Beginnings of ASMINTI revival

This is a short story of my Beginnings with the Anishinaabe nation and how all three of us came together for the greater good, in what was named the 'Founders Council', later on. We all helped to revive ‘ASMIN of Turtle Island’ to its present nation of ASMINTI.

My personal journey and involvement with the Indigenous Community is outlined below and I will introduce you to the other 2 Council members in the story.

My Personal Story

Greetings, my name is Dr. Sabina DeVita Ed.D., and I have been in private practice as a holistic, energy medicine practitioner, psychotherapist, an author, international lecturer and humanitarian, for over 25 years. After completing my doctoral work and graduating from U. of T., (University of Toronto), I decided to leave my teaching career of over 18 years in the public school system altogether and open a private practice clinic in environmental sensitivities and ecological illnesses, focusing on my doctoral dissertation research on 'Brain Allergies' that was pioneer work in the area of psychology at that time.

After a number of years in my private practice, I was nominated to represent Canada as an Honorable Diplomat for Safety and Peace, for the International Parliament of Safety and Peace due to my involvement in humanitarian environmental endeavors in Canada which lasted over a span of 10 years. It was exciting for me to serve globally with other international humanitarian diplomats under the leadership of Archbishop, Sr. Viktor Ivan Busa. The following year, I was invited to be knighted as a Dame by Count Nicholas Bobrinskoy, (5th generation to Catherine the Great) and a few years later, honored again as Dame Commander by the Countess into the Knights Hospitaller of St. John’s (pic 1 below).

Then in 2016, I was invited to Bali to be granted the title, honour and dignity of  'Peace Ambassador' by the Royal Families: the Royal Order of the Royal Palace of Puri Agung Singaraja in Bali,  (pic 2). It was an extraordinary and humbling experience to receive such recognition. Both pics of my Knighthood and Ambassadorship are below.

Upon my return to Canada, I wanted to continue my humanitarian work at home, specifically, in helping Indigenous communities.

I always had a desire to help support the indigenous population in some way in my own country, especially since my mother told me sad, tragic stories during my early childhood years in how the indigenous were treated.  I was born in a small northern Ontario town, north of Sudbury, that was situated near one of the northern Indian reserves. My mother heard horrible tales from the local town's people along with what she had witnessed.  I had read and heard about numerous indigenous atrocities over many years and later in my adult life about the missing women and children.

Sure enough, that day eventually manifested, when I became involved with the Indigenous community in two ways. Interestingly, it all started in a surprise discourse with a new acquaintance I met via my brother, back in 2012, with a man by the name of Glenn Bogue. Over the next 7 years, Glenn attended many of my holistic aromatherapy and healing-environmental 'essential oils’ classes based on the world’s most noted, organic, top aromatic company. I was teaching classes on a monthly basis at the time, and Glenn enjoyed attending them. We began to talk for long periods after my classes (sometimes past midnight) on many holistic, world-wide topics.

Over the years, during our meetings and discussions, I soon learned that Glenn was a colonial lawyer as well as an athlete, a historian-author, but with a passion for real justice and humanitarian interests in helping the indigenous. He showed to have a keen, distinct interest in the unconventional, esoteric, and spiritual aspects of life.  We, thereafter, became professional and dear friends for years, along with my husband.

In 2018, on one of Glenn’s many visits to my office after visiting his mother who lived in Toronto ( he lived near Ottawa),  he shared his current & major humanitarian endeavors by taking on an indigenous court case. He told me about Grand Chief Wabiska Mukwa (GC of a Anishinabek nation) who had stepped aside and gave his blessings with full authority to Glenn Bogue as his Attorney General (AG) to oversee the development of the Anishinabek nation. GC remained active in the nation, whom I met and worked with later in 2021, but GC wanted to remain only as the figurehead for his nation and as an adviser at that time.

In 2020, I became actively involved with the Anishinabek Solutrean Metis Indigenous Nation (acronym, ASMIN) after hearing the tragic story from Glenn, on one of his visits to my office. Glenn, (AG), at Grand Chief’s request, was asked to assist two families who were battling in the courts for the return of their 10 abducted children. As I listened to the heart-breaking story about the two indigenous families who were being treated unfairly, unjustly in the colonial courts for their children, I immediately suggested to AG that more had to be done.

The child abduction took place soon after these loving parents were involved in major protests of the Wet’suwet’en pipeline. As a result, all the children were kidnapped from loving, skilled mothers with the youngest child of only 2 hours old, a newborn, who was abducted from the maternity ward by two RCMP officers along with a Children's Aid worker, who all waited at the maternity door.! I immediately wanted to help.!!

Not only did I feel shock by what I heard but also felt angry that this was still allowed to happen. I quickly proposed to AG, who had taken on this court case at his own expense, that the public needed to be informed, ASAP. Glenn, (AG), a member of the BAR, swore an oath to advance the rights and laws of his clients, and under duty, held resolute to Grand Chief Wabiska Mukwa and now to these two families.

My proposal to Glenn (AG) to start with educational weekly zooms was immediately initiated – even if there were only 2 people on the call, the members would soon increase in numbers over time. We had no website, no office, no phone, only my personal office computer and my willing compassionate heart. I also had key business and spiritual associates to start with to inform them about the ongoing indigenous atrocities.

Glenn was the main zoom educator & presenter and I assumed the role as coordinator and the moderator (which I never did before) for our weekly zoom calls over the next 2.5 years. We were very dedicated to our weekly commitment. I provided the finances for all my work, the items we needed, zoom fees, my office assistant and later for my ASMIN member event gatherings. The costs in providing for these  services over the next 2 years began to escalate beyond what I could handle.

Glenn and I started, (what I named later) the 'Founders’ Council' and soon after, Errol Francis aka Starr Turtle who was already a 2 x Juno Award Winner, musician, songwriter, and an IT professional web developer was asked if he would donate his IT expertise and create a website – fast – all at his own expense! We had no funds to hire anyone. So we were very appreciative of Errol donating his time, expertise, talents and his spirited musical creations to our humanitarian project.

The ASKIT website was born that year and ready to receive members, which Errol oversaw. GC’S original Anishinabek website was out of date, with little information and incorrect membership fees of $350. I soon became adopted into the Anishinabek nation as an 'Indigenous': I am not of the aboriginal culture nor a native Indian, but was born here on Turtle Island.

Soon, we all learned about the adoption process in self-determining as 'Indigenous' as specified in Article 3, under the new UNDRIP laws, ratified by the Can. government in Bill C-15, along with the famous 2016 Daniels case.  We were all learning too about our fictitious country (still a colony), the illegal, unlawful system and the stolen lands and resources from the original people.

I continued to research, gather data, organize it and present the information on a weekly basis with Glenn, to all the few members who joined with us. The membership grew slowly, steadily and strongly.  More data was needed to upload on the ASKIT website as we grew. Each week's zoom session was uploaded on the site's blog by Errol so that newcomers could learn as well from what we previously covered.

Then during the covid-lockdown years, I was volunteering 20 hours or more a week, (amongst my clinic/spa and office work) to maintain the growth of our community. Glenn and I became swamped with more demands – especially for lock-down and VAX protection letters, forms or ID cards. We asked GC Wabiska for his input and help to create the letters. There was also a heavy demand for Errol's time to develop the graphics and design the forms.

Documents were created, seminars were conducted in what to say, videos were posted, court submissions were made in 7 provinces, 3 courts of appeal and 8 land claims in the Supreme Court of Canada (SCC), along with weekly updated material emailed to the members. All three of us were extremely busy!

Many of my office and administrative fees were paid voluntarily by me, costing me thousands of dollars to keep all systems operating. Likewise, Errol and Glenn took care of their own expenses which also accumulated. There was very little renumeration from the ASMIN member fees.

Glenn was later called 'Spirit Warrior', as he became more involved in his tribunal activities and court cases.

As we continued, we faced many more challenges during the covid mandates and lockdowns!

Later in 2022, another major achievement was made in the courts. GC Wabiska (and his adopted son Zesesaapi Mukwa aka John Cipolla), in their land claim for trespass against the crown, on behalf of all indigenous, obtained a default judgment for Northern Turtle Island (Kanat’an).

During the summer of 2020, I decided to offer my private farm property to the members at my own expense, free of any costs to the members, in order to gather safely, during the covid-lockdown period. The gathering was so uplifting, engaging and fun that I continued to organize, and offer my property for an annual summer educational gathering thereafter, absorbing all the costs on my own, for the next 4 events.

Due to the overwhelming tasks and increased expenses for these gatherings, I finally introduced a ticket fee for the members to attend the 2023 summer ASMIN event. The small life-time-initial admin ASMIN membership fee of $50.  from 2020 to Feb., 2024, provided very little in the ASMIN accounts to fund IT costs, admin expenses, court costs or any activity.

I also found it surprising and quite disappointing that there were a handful of well-known members who complained about paying a fee for my private 4th event! It seemed that it was 'okay' or expected that I would pay for everything:  I realized that poverty consciousness, was very prevalent amongst some of our members! Interestingly, it was the same group of people who complained later on when the membership fees were increased and eventually led to the same group's discontent with an attempted hostile takeover.

In late 2021, a discovery was made, after trusting a volunteer member, that the ASMIN-ASKIT email data base was stolen ! It took months to correct the situation, all while continuing with the weekly teaching zooms. More precautions were now introduced by Errol and I for the administration of our incoming members.

As a result of the theft of the email list, as well as GC's ex-wife posting her own ASMIN website in some sort of retaliation due to their divorce, it also necessitated for us to establish another new website in order to maintain clarity to our members. Thus, in early 2022 we incorporated the Anishinabek, the full ASMIN acronym name for our new website. I gave thanks to Great Spirit in guiding me to name the site "ASMIN OF Turtle Island".   Grand Chief Mukwa lovingly expressed his delight in the idea.

This new development was fully taken under my wings as I developed, organized and paid for all expenses including the new website template along with the IT experts who were involved and one dear woman who voluntarily helped in design and logo creation. Errol helped guide me while he pursued the purchase of the domain name. This new site represented the feminine, the matriarchal nature of the tribe.

Over the next few months GC Mukwa shared his photos, certificates and bio to be uploaded onto the site. It was a great honor for me to learn of Grand Chief Mukwa's background, knowledge base, wisdom and wealth of experience, but on the other hand, it was a tremendous amount of work, time, expense and energy to build my own website, as a novice web developer. Thank you Errol for your guidance!

Later in 2022, GC Mukwa attended the summer ASMIN Gathering event for the first time in person, ( see pictures below), and introduced GC Art to the ASMIN Founders Council and the zoom members. Since Sr. Elder Hereditary ASMIN Grand Chief Art L. Jefford was not able to attend the summer event with GC Wabiska, he was invited to attend the ASMIN Fall Gathering , again hosted by me, on my private property. GC Wabiska lived at a great distance far north, and was not well enough to make another trek for a live ASMIN gathering that year or the following year, in 2023.

The Founders Council members were pleased to meet and learn of GC Art’s lifelong passion, his innovations in Environmentally Friendly Healthy Living Enclosures, water-based Plastic & Cellular Composite Skins.

Sr. Elder GC Art, gladly presented his innovations’ developments to the members during the Fall event (along with some of his trials and many governmental challenges). He later led the audience to an inside powwow drumming – dance activity, delivering merriment and laughter.  (see pictures below) Thereafter, G Chief Art continued to support and work with the Founders’ Council members and continued to attend most of our weekly zooms.

As ASMIN of Turtle Island continued to grow, there were more demands and again another revision of the infrastructure was needed. In 2023, the Founders’ Council knew it was important to form committees and community involvement – but the task became onerous as there were only a few overworked hands with accumulating costs and expenses with no funding!

During 2023, I initiated the concept of the committees, now councils, with member volunteers. The councils needed continual attention and learning on the job while I, continued my professional practice, teaching classes and my already overburdened ASMIN functions. It soon became clear to the Founders’ that hired help was required in order to expand and oversee these committees and councils.

In January 2024, I had a long phone discussion with GC Wabiska about the funds and the amount of expenses I was personally incurring. In order to continue, we needed to start fundraising and to increase the members, admin membership fees. He wholeheartedly agreed.

In our Feb. zoom call, we introduced the increase in admin fees to our members. GC Wabiska was one of the presenters who spoke with passion about the need and the importance for the increase in fees. (zoom recording available on our ASKIT blog).

One of the Founders’ goals for 2024 was to restructure again with more member participation on the ASMIN councils with an expert organizer-consultant & adviser, as a paid employee along with a paid administrator. In order to hire personnel, more funds were obviously needed.

All of the Founders have dedicated countless hours, energy, compassion as volunteers for 4 years, (very unusual to see such commitment ) all at their own expense. But, lack of funds became a major issue for ASMIN due to the low $50 admin, one-time member fees, and even with the introduction of a new annual fee of $75 that only began in Feb. 2024, it was not enough to expand and grow the administration of the ASMIN nation, court costs and community building. Fundraising projects and donations were and are still necessary.

Sadly, as of April 2024, a small inner group of women (many of the same group who complained of the fees) attempted a hostile takeover of our ASMIN-TI nation. They even went further to convince GC Mukwa to believe in their many fabricated stories, which are all revealed on the ASKIT website.

Please visit https://askit4equity.com or go directly to evidence of the attempted takeover, to read about the infiltration- attempted hostile takeover of ASMIN, which happened at the same time that Wabiska Mukwa formally retired due to his reported illness to the council.

Today we are very thankful for the L.O.V.E. PODS donation and gift from Chief EnJin for our ASMINTI tribe.

To find out more about L.O.V.E. Pods,  please visit our page or go directly to the home site.

We also feel delighted that Sr. Elder Hereditary Grand Chief Art Jefford has agreed to step forward as our Founders' Council adviser.

GC Art and his wife's profile, as shared by GC Art, that their ancestral lineage goes back to Geronimo (a fierce, noble  warrior chief).  More will be posted soon about GC Art's heritage!

We greatly appreciate GC Art's environmental projects  and his presentations worldwide on his innovations.
